Giving Back

ChannelWork_logo.png
The Channel@Work program is the charitable component of our XChange events.  Channel@Work is designed to bring the IT community together to connect and give back to the local communities that host our events throughout the year.

Our XChange Events team identifies the charities and coordinates with committed vendors, solution providers, and other IT executives on the appropriate contributions of time, items, and monetary donations to make a difference.

Please visit the Giving Back pages for each of our 2014 events to find out more about this year's projects.

In 2013, Channel@Work provided empowerment to low-income students through technology, teen center updates to support after school programs, joy and comfort to families with children undergoing serious medical treatment, and hope to disadvantaged women.

 @ XChange Solution Provider:
To Grandma's House We Go

We teamed up with Grandma's House, an intergenerational nusing home, to re-vamp their space and spend some time with the incredible kids they have there.  Volunteers built garden boxes, painted bird houses, and showed the children how to use the 40 new tablets that were donated from our generous donors.

See the video and CRN's slidehow of the project.

@ XChange 2013:
Back to School Bash at Eastern Ave

Our volunteer team helped 90 underpriveleged children start the school year off right working with students to choose a backpack and fill it with school supplies.  We also had an over the top back to school party with bounce houses, cotton candy, sno-cones, and more.  To top it off, volunteers helped build furniture provided by McAfee to fill their new technology community room.

See the video of the project.

@ Midsize Enterprise Summit East:
Lunches with Love

Volunteers spent their afternoon making bagged lunches for the families of the Chicago Ronald McDonald House including sandwiches, cookies, and more.  Making lunch for the famliies at the house give them the opportunity to focus on their families during these difficult times.

@ Midsize Enterprise Summit West:
Ronald McDonald Comfort Kits

Scale Computing generously sponsored our MES West Comfort Kits.  Attendees helped to compile bags filled with comforting items for the families at the local Ronald McDonald House.  We also raised more than $3,000 for the house including exceptionally generous pledges from CIOs and sponsors in the room.

@ NexTI:
Make-A-Wish

For NexTI and the Best of Breed (BoB) Conference we collected funds to go towards a wish for a sick child.  Together we raised more than $1,000 to help make a wish come true.

@ Healthcare IT Summit:
Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times

At the event, we collected toiletries and funds for Camp Ronald McDonald House.  At the end of each camp session, the kids write their wishes on popscicle sticks to be used for the next session's campfire.  Onsite, vendors, attendees, and staff all wrote out wishes on popscicle sticks to be combined with the campers.  We also raised more than $2,000 to help stock a med-shed at the camp.

@ WOTC Winter Workshop:
Safe Horizon

With more women than ever be for, we managed to raise twice as much funding for Safe Horizon programs as last year's workshop.  From geneous individual pledges to raffle ticket purchases to donations of diapers, gifts, and winter accessories these women came together to make a real difference for mothers and children who have been victims of crimes and abuse.
