Giving Back

EverythingChannel@Work

The Channel@Work program is the charitable component of our XChange Events. Channel@Work is designed to bring channel and end-user communities together to connect and give back to the local communities that host our events throughout the year.  Microsoft has generously donated to underwrite this project.

What is the project?
Back to School Bash at Eastern Ave. There are approximately 90 children at the apartments ranging from pre-school to high school students.  Our group will be hosting a party, working with students to choose a backpack and fill it with the school supplies necessary for the upcoming year.  The party will include games and treats, encouraging the students to participate and really celebrate the beginning of school with our volunteer mentors.

We will also be updating their Community Room with a Technology Center and helping prepare students for the year with a Microsoft Office training session.

What type of technology are they looking for?
The Eastern Avenue Apartments wish list includes:

•    10 tablets
•    Television (the program would appreciate an upgrade on the one in the community room right now)
•    Security technology (to help us keep track of our laptops, tablets, etc) - DONATED
•    Wii Fit/ Wii Game system & multi player games
•    Software (for homework, projects, etc)
•    Quick Books
•    Adobe (including Photoshop and InDesign)
•    Microsoft Office Suite - DONATED
•    1 smartboard with accompanying laptop
•    Projector with a projection screen (e.g. projector from the ceiling, screen, etc.)
•    Copier, fax, and scanner - DONATED
•    Ink & toner (for requested printers)
•    Paper
•    Dry Erase Board with markers
•    10 laptops for community room - DONATED
•    1 laptop/projector combo
•    2 desktop computers (staff) - DONATED
•    Printers for community room including one color printer - DONATED
•    WiFi connectivity service/support

How can you help and participate?
We ask all vendors to provide a technology or donation in order to participate.  Donating vendors will have the opportunity to send two representatives to volunteer at the project.

  •     Vendors, send an email to Caitlin.gorski@ubm.com by July 25 or Betzi.hanc@ubm.com after to let us know that you would like to participate.
  •     Solution Providers, send an email to ct.thomas@ubm.com and ask to volunteer.
  •     Then, congratulate yourself and your company for being awesome!

Caitlin will send details as we get closer to the event, but there will be a shuttle taking people from the hotel at 1pm to the project site.

Our Channel@Work project would not be such a success without the incredible generosity of our vendors and attendees.

Thank you for joining us in our effort to give back!
